Colin Powell has endorsed Senator Barack Obama for the presidency and Republican nominee John McCain couldn't be happier! After all, he loves being the underdog, and Colin Powell's dissing of the Republican party is a swift kick to the nuts of the GOP ticket making the term underdog almost an understatement.

In Powell's endorsement of Obama, he cited McCain's desire to connect Obama to Bill Ayers as one of several reasons he will not be voting for McCain. He went on to condemn members of his Republican party for making accusations that Obama is a Muslim and therefore should not be President. Powell agreed with the sentiment of many Americans with a brain stem, basically saying WHO CARES if Obama is a Muslim (he still isn't). It's scary that a number of Americans actually think being a Christian should be a prerequisite for leading the country. Shall we go back in history and get rid of Thomas Jefferson then? Because he was far from a Christian.

With this departure from party by a well respected Republican and two weeks left until the election, McCain needs to get his act together now more than ever. His campaign has been like watching a chicken with it's head cut off trying to decide where to get off the highway. The campaign has had seemingly no direction followed by a motto of when in doubt, go negative. Yes, Senator McCain, the media has begun to write you off, but methinks some of that might be justified.

Think fast, McCain, or Obama will be doing far more than measuring the drapes in the Oval Office and you'll be left with the awful taste of Bob Evans grits in your mouth.
