Facebook Hits New Low

Facebook Hits New Low
Facebook stalking is no longer fun, since there is now some truth to the stalking part. The social network website will soon be accessible to millions of users through search engines like Google, Yahoo, and MSN Live. All searches will show user names, profile pictures, and other information.

This attempt aims to recruit more Facebook users, despite the fact that it's the 6th most visited website in the U.S., and that it accounts for 1 percent of all internet traffic. No longer an exclusively collegiate network, Facebook will now move beyond social networking while defeating the purpose of its initial appeal: privacy.

For many college students, this poses a threat to future employers, who will be able to make preemptive judgments based on irrelevant pastimes. Although Facebook's traffic might increase, active users will lose interest in something that’s going to make private information accessible to the public sphere.

@ yung fresh: I wouldn't have written about something I knew to be already posted. I scan the main page before writing a post. I feel like the manager approval delay may be the culprit(no offense). Either way, apologies. Posted 09/15/2007 12:56 PMReply

i was joking. i think we should double post everything and try to start fights about the different angles we take. perhaps i will just wait till someone posts then play devil's advocate. Posted 09/16/2007 8:31 PMReply
