Memorial Stadium Prepares for a Fresh Season

Memorial Stadium Prepares for a Fresh Season
After much construction, Memorial Stadium will finally open its gates for the first home game tonight against Western Illinois.

Returning fans will have to adjust to recent changes. The scoreboard has moved from the north to the south end, and Block-I has moved from the south to the north. There will be no seating in the upper deck of the stadium’s west side.

Don’t plan on driving to home games -- game-day parking fees have increased from $15 to $20. MTD is a better option; they will shuttle people from Goodwin and University every 15 minutes for only $2 round-trip.

Hungry? Try to smuggle in some food. The concessions tonight will be located outside of the actual stadium in a fenced-off area. If you do decide to hit up the hot dog stands and you’re a chain smoker, this will be your only chance to light up. Smoking is now prohibited inside the stadium, for obvious reasons.

We can only hope the new changes will inspire the Illini to win more.
