Pulling Out "Stick It In"

Pulling Out "Stick It In"

"Stick It In" is one of the most popular cheers students do at football games. Whenever our offense is about to score a touchdown, the band strikes up Stick It In (as in, stick it in the end zone), and everyone in the North/East/South stands accompanies the song with semi-graphic hip thrusts.  (Get it?! Stick it in! Haha.) Notice the West stands never partake in any fun -- because they are old, crotchety alumni, and completely out of touch with anything our generation finds fun and entertaining.

Jim Weaver, the director of athletic operations, has gotten a FEW (8-12) complaints about the sexual nature of the cheer.  A few years ago he banned the cheerleaders and band from doing the hip thrusts, and today he forbade the band from even play the song at all.

Can he seriously do that? Whatever happened to our first amendment rights -- freedom of cheering? It's a tradition! Next thing you know the band isn't going to be allowed to play that one song where we start with our hands in the air and gradually bring them down to the "suck it" crotch pose.

Let's just do it anyway, without the band. We'll start a revolution! Save the Stick It In cheer!
