Karl Rove Calls McCain Tactics Dishonest, Yes, Karl...Rove

Karl Rove Calls McCain Tactics Dishonest, Yes, Karl...Rove

This should be a sign of the times. In an excerpt taken from an interview on Fox News, Karl Rove complained about the exceptionally dishonest turn the president campaign has taken. And I quote:

"McCain has gone, in some of his ads, similarly gone one step too far in sort of attributing to Obama things that are, you know, beyond the 100% truth test."

Karl Rove, just called you, John McCain, dishonest. Wow. Democrats? Plan on jumping all over this?

"When Karl Rove says your campaign is dishonest, maybe its time to reevaluate."

I thought so. This comes in the wake of a recent wave of backlash against the McCain campaign for dishonest campaigning, not only from the "media elites," but also from non-partisan groups like FactCheck.org. Oh facts, always with your liberal bias!

The claims McCain has been making that are woefully deceptive or blatant lies:

Claim: Sarah Palin said "thanks but no thanks" to the bridge to nowhere

Category: Misrepresentation

Reality: She techinically did say "thanks," when she supported the bridge originally, but it was only when popular opinion turned against the bridge did she in fact say "no thanks."

Claim: Sarah Palin didn't take earmarks as governor of Alaska

Category: Lie

Reality: She took voer $200 million in earmarks. I mean, anyone with Google can find that, come on.

Claim: Obama wants to raise everyone's taxes

Category: Lie

Reality: Nope, in fact, 80% of the country will be receiving tax cuts under Obama's plan. But that doesn't stop 51% of the country from believing that Obama will in fact raise their taxes.

Claim: Obama voted to teach sex education to kindergartners

Category: Kind of an extremely evil distortion

Reality: Obama supported legistlation to protect children from sexual predators. This included teaching them where it was "not okay" to be touched by someone.

Really, the list could go on and on, but these are the main ones people are talking about. And these aren't rumors circulated in e-mail forwards, these are legitimate claims being made either on the stump or in John McCain approved commericals. Will the J-Mac repent? Tune in tomorrow to find out!

It's always nice to see an objective, non-partisan analysis of the events. Dr. Manhattan, I applaud your ethical journalism and unbiased sense of information. It is evident you have conducted a thorough investigation, and you have applied extraordinary critical thinking. Most importantly, I thank you for the invaluable contribution you are making to the conservative movement through this site. (BTW, you do realize FactCheck.org is a progressive (meaning, leftist) organization, right?) Posted 09/15/2008 5:09 PMReply
