For everyone in college who doesn't know the next big thing, Asher Roth, you will soon enough. The 22-year old white rapper from the suburbs first hit it big after his Weezer-sampling anthem "I Love College" was released on MySpace a few months ago... and now it seems he's touring the college circuit.
The venue: Santa Fe Cafe. Admittedly, I was confused when I arrived at the show because it appeared I had walked onto the set of a Hollister commercial. Let's just say there were more than a flock of seagulls at the show. Whether they were trying to witness the rise of the next Eminem or just got blasted in the face with 10 different Facebook Event Invitations for the concert, we may never be sure.
What I can be sure of though is that Asher Roth is blowing up. I can also be sure that he needs more music out if he's going to be touring all over the collegiate circuit. One song plus a mixtape ain't gonna cut it. If only he had a dollar for every popped collar at his show... wait, he probably does. Get on that Asher.
