You heard me. For the 7th year in a row, Capital One is holding the Capital One Mascot Bowl - where they pit 12 of the country's most creative and awesome mascots against one another for a 12 week round robin tournament to discover which one is the greatest of the great. This only means one thing - it is time to buckle down as the University of Maryland and get Testudo the credit he deserves.

In 2006 we lost in the Championship Match to Butch T. Cougar from Washington State U... what? How more unoriginal could he be? He's a cougar in a football uniform...

Look at Testudo - his name is derived from Latin academia, his mascot costume is unlike any other out there, he represents our school in all sports, not just football, and I once saw him break dance fight the Boston College Eagle on the sidelines of a football game who was consequently too embarassed to continue and forced to bow down in defeat.

Anyway, this will be Testudo's year! Here's what you have to do...

• In the top left, click vote.
• Vote for Testudo.
• You must vote in every other match-up for your vote to count.
• Enter a nickname that you will use everytime you vote
• Enter the validation code.

Now, listen carefully, you can vote ONCE EVERY DAY. This isn't a weekly/monthly thing, so let's get rolling; wake up, brush your teeth, vote. Think of it as practice for the Presidential Election.

We made big strides last week, moving from 9th to 4th place and this week we have a chance to take down Smokey from Tennessee who's sittin' pretty in 3rd. Also, use some strategy when you vote - don't vote for the people in top spots!

Anyway, all we need to be is in the Top 6 spots for the playoffs that start in Week 11. Right now, we're in Week 5 and currently up about 500 votes over Smokey. Not too bad.

I will not accept failure this year. There is only one mascot who I would accept losing to and luckily for us, he is not in the running this year.
