Shawne Merriman, the star linebacker for the San Diego Chargers and former Terp star, announced this past week that he would be putting off reconstructive knee surgery to play this season.

Doctors have told Merriman that further injury to the knee could be career threatening. While he is being praised in San Diego for being a “warrior”, most outside of the California area think he’s an idiot.

I would comment on how it’s not worth it to risk a career for the season, and how he needs to think about the future, but I just drafted the Chargers defense in my fantasy league. So basically, good luck Shawne!
