The National Archives recently released 80,000 pages of documents from Nixon's presidency.

Among the many gems uncovered so far, a member of Nixon's staff makes the profoundly bizarre suggestion that the GOP recruit John Kerry to run for office. The theory was that Kerry, as a graduate of Yale, must be a Republican.

Kerry responded last week, "I experimented with a number of things in college. Being a Republican wasn't one of them. Besides, going to Yale doesn't make you a Republican. Going to Bob Jones University makes you a Republican." Zing!
