Maryland is a NCAA Division I school (now known as the Football Bowl Subdivision). Delaware is a NCAA Division II (now known as the Football Championship Subdivision). Unless your school pulls a massive choke job (see Michigan), a DI school does not lose to a DII school, especially at home.
It was close, but Maryland avoided the choke job today when it squeaked by Delaware 14-7, opening up the season with a win. Sure, the team needed three quarterbacks and seemed to miss every field goal it got, but Da’Rel Scott piled up 197 yards on the ground, leaving hope for this year.
