In case you haven’t realized this yet, the climate is changing all around the country, and no one really knows why.
Nope – not even scientists, as some blame global warming and others point to El Nino.
Regardless of the cause for these climate shifts, it’s clear that the effects are already being felt, especially in Maryland.
Maryland, whose economy is largely dependent on the coastline, is expected to lose over one billion dollars in revenue, thanks to the rising sea level.
University of Maryland public policy professor Matthias Ruth explains:
"The pain will be felt statewide… Maryland's highly integrated economy, growing population and extensive, interconnected infrastructure make it very vulnerable to widespread direct and ripple economic effects. The economic data simply don't exist yet to project a precise bottom line, but the trend is clear - it will cost Maryland and the nation billions, and inaction or delayed action will only add to the cost."
Ouch – Mother Nature is clearly on the warpath.
She started her all-out offensive on the U.S. and the Caribbean by sending Hurricane Hanna, Gustav and Ike in rapid succession. And now, she’s setting her sights on Maryland and the ailing U.S. economy.
Expect God to join the assault in the near future when he launches a meteor into the planet.
