Vindication has finally come to the women of the Princeton Tigers.

Three weeks ago, we reported on the Tigers choking during a pivotal game against the University of Maryland Terrapins, and in the process, pooh-poohed their chances of securing the Ivy League championship and/or an NCAA Tournament bid.

However, this past weekend, they proved us all wrong by defeating Penn and securing the Ivy League title for the first time in four years.

The Daily Princetonian reports:

Princeton (12-2-2 overall, 5-1-1 Ivy League) faced Penn (8-6-2, 2-3-3) in a rain-soaked matchup that had a bit of everything: flashes of superb technical soccer, pulse-raising near misses from the opposition, sterling senior leadership and a last-minute goal that left the crowd in a state of near euphoria. The result was a 2-1 win in double overtime over the Tigers’ border-state rival that gave the team a share of the Ivy League title and increased its chances of earning an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament.

All that’s left now is for the Tigers to receive an NCAA Tournament bid, and we’ll be left eating a healthy serving of humble pie until next season.

Today, they'll find out whether or not they made it, and I, for one, wish them luck.
