Racial Tension in Ithaca City School District

The Ithaca City School District has been facing some heat in the past few weeks for their previous reluctance to investigate a racial incident report filed two years ago. But with the recent bus incident, involving the verbal and physical bullying of a 12-year-old black student (who's mother, Amelia Kearney, attends Ithaca College), things have come to a front.

Upset with the Board of Education's constant pussyfooting around such incidents--especially with the high-profile Jena 6 and Madonna Constantine cases--high school and college students, as well as community members, have rallied and protested relentlessly to be heard.

Tuesday night may bring an ounce of hope, as the Board unanimously voted to investigate Kearney's claims (that were brought up two years ago!). How's that for due process?
