Red Cup: The Flower of College Park, Maryland

Red Cup: The Flower of College Park, Maryland

In a recent interview with Marissa Lang of The Diamondback, Bob Ryan, the director of public services for the city of College Park has a lot of interesting things to say. Most interesting is his statement that the drinking age should be lowered to 18. His reasoning behind this statement - "allowing college students to drink in a legal environment would mitigate many of the unsafe practices found at house parties."

And the best part is that he has invited Univeristy President Dan Mote and Vice President of Student Affairs Dr. Linda Clement to come out with him one night and observe the raucous debauchery on and around Route One. What would happen if they took up his offer? No idea, but I bet they'd have an interesting response.

My favorite part though is his take on red cups - you know the ones, the "flower of College Park" according to Ryan.

Anyway, check out the rest of the interview and Ryan's late night Halloween itinerary. If Ryan gets anyone of power to join him on one of these late night college safaris, I'll be sure to post their findings...
