Oscar Winning film maker Ross Kauffman showed up before a packed house after a screening of his documentary Born into Brothels, and gave a hilarious and heartfelt talk about the process of making his film as well as its positive impacts on children in the red light district of Calcutta and beyond.

After some very awkward introductions and blurbs from various leaders of humanitarian organizations, it was refreshing and entertaining to hear this funny and slightly cynical man talk about the euphoric awakenings throughout his life that led him to spend two years doing hot, sweaty work in brothels (but not in the way other people sweat in brothels).

Nothing inspires lazy college students to go into activism like a good movie.
