Sometimes, It's Okay To Rush To Judgment
The Daily Free Press has a courageous staff editorial in their Monday edition defending that most unjustly slandered of innocent victims, that ridiculous MIT girl who wore a fake bomb to the airport.

Way to go to bat for the little guy, DFP.
Simpson exercised poor judgment in wearing wires, lights and a battery to arguably the most security-sensitive airport in the country, from which two teams of hijackers departed on Sept. 11, 2001 before crashing two planes into the World Trade Center in New York City.
Well, no. "Poor judgment" is wearing a denim jacket to anything but a Ratt concert. "Wearing wires, lights and a battery" and wearing them on your chest would rise beyond the level of poor judgment into the arena of being a complete idiot.
MIT's statement that [Star] Simpson's actions were "reckless and understandably created alarm at the airport" was not only unnecessary, as the school was not directly involved in the incident, but it was remarkably damning.
You know what's "remarkably damning"? Strapping a fake bomb to yourself, going to Logan Airport and calling it an art project. That's really deep, Star. You obviously gave a lot of thought to the symbolism and artistic themes of this little project.

The DFP's editorial says the press shouldn't be so eager to leap to conclusions and hasty answers. But, the real question remains: why didn't somebody taser this girl?
