Virginia Tech Wishes It Was MTV, Holds True Life Contest

Star in your own home-made video and you could become a pseudo-celeb on campus. It worked for Paris Hilton, you know.

Virginia Tech is holding a contest to see what real student can show off their real student life the best. The contest, called “True Life: I’m a Hokie,” encourages students to submit their stories on the school’s YouTube page. The top three videos will win anywhere from $100 to $500.

But the best of the best won’t just disappear into YouTube obscurity come November. The winner will be announced at the Nov. 29 at the Virginia Tech-Virginia football game, after which they will be free to cash in on what’s sure to be their newfound popularity.

The only problem is, hasn’t the whole True Life thing been done? I’m pretty sure MTV’s covered everything from True Life: I’m In the Sex Industry to True Life: I’m Addicted To Fame-Whoring Myself And My Problems Out On Crappy TV Shows Like This One.
