Maryland likes to brag about being one of the most  "aware" schools in the nation. Sure, there may be more crime in College Park then there is in Camden, but at least the students know about it.

Uhh, not anymore. According to the Diamondback, no crime alerts were sent out in June, despite the fact that statistics show there were 41 property crimes alone last month.

OTR favorite Paul Dillon, the man who graciously sends out those crime alerts, said the lack of e-mails has been because campus police generally only send out alerts when it affects the entire campus community, and incidents such as petty theft usually don't qualify (apparently, petty Yu-gi-oh theft does, however).

That explanation sounds fine, except that on June 21st a student was allegedly attacked by her ex-boyfriend with a knife at the South Campus Diner. Sounds like a pretty big deal to me.

Also sounds like campus police have a little bit more explaining to do.
