University of Miami got a visit from the great and mighty Obama today. The presidential hopeful held a rally on campus, but all did not go smoothly.

In the midst of his attacks on McCain’s position on women’s issues and the economy, about a dozen protesters showed up carrying homemade signs and interrupted the speech. CBS News has the scoop:

The group of mostly African American men held signs that read, “Blacks against Obama”, “Jesse Jackson hates Obama”, “Obama for abortions”, “Obama for gay marriage” and “Obama endorsed by the KKK.”

The “Blacks against Obama” were supposedly part of a group called “Michael Warns.” MichaelWarns.com explains that it is a site where “you will learn the truth about the current issues of the world politically and religiously.” Whatever "truth" that is.

Back at the rally, Obama, ever the diplomat, told the crowd the protesters could stay, but we all know that behind the scenes things were probably not as calm. Soon after the Secret Service “escorted” the group out of the event, but not before Obama supporters fought back.

The more than 5,000 people really gave those protesters a piece of their mind, shouting “Yes we can!” which I imagine really intimidated the group.

Still it was an impressive display of emotion on both sides. University of Miami students don’t usually get that riled up unless it involves football.

The website of the crazies who protesters actually says they actually believe Oprah is "the devil" (and all women, too, their other poster implies)...

It is amazing how desperately people want to believe that Obama is some sort of demonic being out to ruin America and corrupt the sanctity of American Family Values. Nothing Obama has said or done justifies this reaction, so the source of this hatred must be of a baser nature. I don't understand when people get worked up over people trying to use his race against him, when (just as worse), there are people who support him just because of his race. That is political ignorance....the same as the people who are criticizing Gov. Palin without even knowing what her strenghs and weekness are.

Not that he isn't intelligent, and a good Senator, but when someone tells me I should vote for him, they should at least be able to give me reasons WHY.

I have to say Sarah Palin is quite the character. During her run for Alaska governor she was a firm supporter of abstinence-only education in schools.

In a 2006 Eagle Forum questionnaire, Palin indicated that she supported funding abstinence-until-marriage education programs instead of teaching sex-education programs.

"Explicit sex-ed programs will not find my support," Palin wrote in the conservative groupâ��s questionnaire.

Hmm...too bad she couldn't teach abstinence until marriage to her 17 yr old daughter at home.

Also, I do respect others pro-life belief, and that's your personal choice. I am pro-choice because I'm not going to dictate or make the decision of what a woman and those involved with her should do with her body, for whatever the circumstances are of how her pregnancy came to be. This is God's judgment when He calls. So, for those of you who look down from your high horses on others who don't share the same beliefs, I challenge you to put your money where your mouth is cowboys and cowgirls...adopt someone else's unwanted child and quit being a foaming-at-the-mouth-holier-than-thou-dictator.

It's interesting also that these same pro-life people on the other hand think it's ok to shoot animals dead (even if they are an endangered species) and are for capital punishment. Obama's asking people not to wait on the government, instead make a change. Too many black people just sit and rely on foodstamps, wic, medicaid, etc. Get a job, be the change you want to see. And no it's not easy, but keep trying. Cast your bitterness aside, if i can go to school here as a poor foreigner then all you citizens need to wake up.
