After defeating UNC Asheville, OSU moved to the second round of the NIT. Their opponent, California, beat New Mexico last night. Due to a concert at Value City Arena, the game will be held at St. John's Arena on campus. Tickets can still be purchased at OhioStateBuckeyes.com. Tickets will be $20 for regular admission and $10 for students. The game starts at 7 PM and will be aired on ESPN.
The last time OSU faced Cal? 1960 for the NCAA Championship. The Buckeyes won that game with someone you might have heard of, Jerry Lucas. This game doesn't hold the same value, but it should be a tight matchup.
Cal boasts another big man in OSU's way. Devon Hardin, who could have went pro last year, is a 7 footer that may pose matchup problems. The bigger isue, however, is the sophomore forward, Ryan Anderson. Anderson averages more than 20 ppg and if he can be shut down, the game will be all Scarlet and Gray.
