An Injured Threet Good for Sheridan, Michigan's Chances

An Injured Threet Good for Sheridan, Michigan's Chances

Before everyone starts to rabble about the title, let me first say that Steven Threet is a better quarterback than Nick Sheridan. However, when Sheridan is on the field, the presence of a healthy Steven Threet on the sideline brings him down. There’s an enormous amount of pressure when you walk-on to the most storied franchise in college football and start at quarterback. Thinking that the coach is going to sub you out at the first sign of trouble can only add to that problem. But consider the game against Minnesota, where Sheridan went 18-30 for 203 yards and a TD. Sheridan took all the snaps in practice that week, and Threet wasn’t dressed for the game. Threet has been labeled “Doubtful” for the Ohio State game, so Sheridan should be facing similar conditions as when he went into the Minnesota game.

Don’t get me wrong, Minnesota and Ohio State are completely different teams. It will take a miraculous effort on both sides of the ball, especially on defense, to get a win on Saturday. Yet, having only one quarterback (plus a few Feagin rushes) will be more effective than the constant switching between Threet and Sheridan; it ruins the tempo of the game. Sheridan’s performance against Minnesota was the most balanced game by either quarterback the entire season. The absence of Threet’s substitution pressure on Sheridan will hopefully replicate another well balanced game, and improve the chances to gain our last shred of dignity back by beating OSU.

And to Terrance, Tim, Brandon, Morgan and/or Obi: Please knock Pryor the f*ck out.
