So, World, it seems that the United States isn’t the only country with its share of violent, angst-ridden high school teenagers. Australia has them too! Instead of guns, though, they come armed with bats and machetes. According to Bloomberg News, five teenagers stormed an assembly today at Merrylands High School in Sydney and attacked a teacher and eighteen other students. Thankfully, no one was killed or seriously injured, but it’s scary to think that one minute you could be standing around daydreaming about being home and the next you could be getting hit across the face with a baseball bat. Talk about a rude awakening. Ouch!

It’ll be interesting to see what politicians in Sydney inevitably point to as the cause for this act of violence. Will they blame music? Will video games, like Grand Theft Auto, take the fall yet again? Or, will they go as far as to accuse the United States, where similar attacks like these have occurred before, of encouraging copycats around the world? I’m going to ahead and guess that it will be a mixture of each.

Damn you United State of America for your love of violence! Why can’t you love sex and nudity like the rest of the world?!
