Ann Arbor Empty as the Jews Go Home
The Jewish High Holiday of Rosh Hashana has begun, and this means one thing in Ann Arbor: about a third of the campus population has gone back to West Bloomfield, Farmington Hills, and Bloomfield Hills. Many of you will notice in the next two days that your discussion is noticeably smaller, and you’re much more likely to get called on.

For those of you who are not Jewish, but were blessed with names that include “berg” or “stein”, the time to act is now. Send your professors and GSIs an email saying that you won’t make it to class for religious purposes, and take the day off. They won’t know.

The High Holiday Exodus of Ann Arbor will most likely occur again next Friday and Saturday for Yom Kippur. So brace yourselves once again for the Jew-less campus where you find yourself asking, “Are there really this many Asians here?”
