ASU Tells Students to Get the Hell Out

ASU Tells Students to Get the Hell Out
Explain to me why this is fair:

University officials are pushing an “in and out” strategy to get students to graduate within four years. Never mind that many of us want (and need) to take some extra time with our education to pursue our career goals. ASU wants us in and out in four years to free up space for other students, stretch state dollars and (wait for it) look good on paper.

Look good on paper?

Apparently, ASU is feeling a tad embarrassed that most of its students can’t get their degree in a reasonable time period. According to a piece in yesterday’s Arizona Republic only 30% of us will earn our undergraduate degrees in four years. The kids at UA have the “highest percentage of students graduating in four years among the state universities with 32 percent.”

P*ssies.

I don’t know about you, but I plan to take my sweet time graduating. If I want to change my major (or minor) seven times, I will. No one is going to rush me through college – I’m paying serious money to be here!

ASU needs to chill out and let us breathe. I don’t give a rat’s a*s if we look bad to the rest of the country. I’ll get my degree when I’m ready.
