Necto is probably one of the best dance clubs at Michigan for those of you under 21 and without an ID. I went a few times last year, usually gets pretty good crowds, although it draws some non-UM characters. I found out the hard way last year that Friday night isn’t quite the same as the other nights of the week. It’s Pride Night.

What is pride night exactly? Well, it’s what it sounds like, the night for those to be proud about what some in society might shun them for. I’d say it’s definitely a nice thing to have for those who partake, but I for one was pretty uncomfortable with what I was seeing.

For those of you who don’t think you’d be comfortable in that sort of setting, consider this your warning. I didn’t walk into the club expecting to see two keys and no slots on the dance floor, or women who looked like they could kick the crap out of me.

However, they do get great crowds, with people of all sexual preferences. I have heterosexual friends who enjoy going because there are still other heterosexuals there, and I guess it can grow to be a pretty wild scene. So for those of you who wouldn’t be uncomfortable, I’d recommend it, Necto is a great club.
