This is a picture of an actual Harry Potter costume contest. The kid on the end is Darth Vader in a pirate hat and won third place.
Can't wait until Friday when the Harry Potter movie comes out? Going to slit your wrists the following week after Harry dies in the last book? Never fear, even if the saga is drawing to a close, you know what never dies? Your imagination! That's right kids, if you're between the ages of 5 and 15(!), you can head on down to "A Very Special Week at Hogwarts" a Harry Potter themed camp in Ann Arbor with classes like Defense Against the Dark Arts and Wizard Duels.
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for shipping kids off to day camp so you can work all day and not feel bad, but this could really be damaging to them. No, not because they're all going to turn into little devil-worshippers, but because when I'm five, I'm pretty sure magic is real, and when I get to Harry Potter Camp and find out that Defense Against the Dark Arts is really a rape prevention course in disguise, I'm going to be a little disappointed. And if you go the camp when you're fifteen? I'd enroll in Defense Against the Dark Wedgie, if you want to learn something you're actually going to need to use in real life.
And yes, I know I'm a hypocrite since I know what "Avada Kedavra" means.
