Madison Metro Driver Fired After Speeding Away With Man Clinging To Bus, Possibly Getting Him Somewhere On Time
A dramatization of the events of July 29.

Madison Metro fired one of its bus drivers after a July 29 incident in which the driver sped away from a Verona Road bus stop with a man clinging to the side view mirror for 71 seconds.

The incident, during which the bus hit a top speed of 35 miles per hour, allegedly happened in response to the bus driver's claim that the man had earlier urinated on the bus.

On one hand, yeah, this bus driver's a really big meanie for not stopping the bus, but 71 seconds almost hits the extreme sport category, like cliff diving off Monona Terrace.

Good news for the hoards of folks who are going to indirectly encourage this Madison Metro malfeasance: a surveillance video of the incident will be released after a criminal investigation.
