IT'S MIIIIIIICHIGAN!!!!!
Detroit Cass Tech Defensive Tackle and 5-Star recruit, William Campbell, is set to make his college decision today during the U.S Army All-American Bowl. Campbell had made an oral commitment to Michigan during his junior season but de-committed earlier this year in order to “get the full recruitment experience”. He probably didn’t quite get the Jesus Shuttlesworth treatment, but it seems what was said to be mere exploration has translated into a strong likelihood that he will not be on the Michigan football field next year.
As of now, it seems that Les Miles and LSU are the front runners for his services. Florida and Miami are also on his radar. It was reported a week or so ago that he had removed his interest from Michigan completely, however, a later report indicated that Michigan would be among the hats he will select from today.
Campbell would be the most highly rated recruit and only 5-star in the 2009 class if he by some chance decides to re-commit to Michigan this afternoon. He and Mike Martin would provide a stalwart defensive line for the next three years. Even without Campbell, Michigan has secured solid verbals from 4-star DTs DeQuinta Jones and Pearlie Graves. There is still one month before national signing day and Rich Rodriguez has about 7 or 8 scholarships he can fill—it’s time to whip out the wizard's hat.
Update: Hail to the Victors is blaring after Campbell fakes LSU and picks the Michigan cap. Campbell will join teammates Teric Jones and Thomas Gordon in Ann Arbor next season. This is a huge pick-up for the program and hopefully a sign of good things to come over the remainder of the recruitment season.
