The Next Michigan Quarterback... Seriously, I mean it this time
It should come to no one's surprise when I tell you that Michigan has had a pretty rough off-season. Whether it be the Draft declaration by anyone with an outside shot to be drafted, the transfers of Ryan Mallet and Justin Boren, as well as the loss in the Terrelle Pryor sweepstakes, things have been sh*tty.
However, there is big news out of Virginia that 4-star prospect Kevin Newsome has made an oral commitment to become a Wolverine in the 2009 season. He is described by rivals.com as a Pro-style quarterback yet runs a respectable 4.57 second 40-yard dash. He is the 4th highest rated quarterback of the class, and the three ranked higher have already given oral commitments, not that that sort of thing would stop Rich Rod anyway.
I endorse the supposed "selling of snake oil from the wizard's hat" as long as guys like Roundtree and Shaw are donning the winged helmet come the fall.
The kid has got a great arm if you check out his youtube highlights and has the ability to create with his legs as well once he's out of the pocket. We will see what the trio of Threet, Sheridan and Feagin can produce this year, but regardless we will see some great things from Newsome down the road should he substantiate his oral commitment on signing day next year.
And to the Ohio State guys from the Boren blog, you can have him. The way I see it, Rich Rodriguez is coach Herman Boone and Boren is Bertier's racist friend who wouldn't block for the black guys. We're better off without him.
