Michigan Gets Verbal Commitment from PG Darius Morris

Michigan Basketball has finally gotten the recruit it needed to get the John Beilein era going. Darius Morris, the 4-star prospect rated #10 overall point guard by rivals.com for the 2009 class, has picked Michigan over scholarship offers from NCAA tournament regulars such as Kentucky, Stanford and USC.

Michigan is coming off of a dismal 10-22 season and lost their starting Center Ekpe Udoh earlier this summer-- he transfered to Baylor. This upcoming season isn't necessarily looking primed for that first NCAA tournament appearance in 19 years (11 years if you exclude the sanctions), but the team stands to improve from their first adjustment year under Beilein (it would be hard to do worse). Morris can hopefully provide a cornerstone for top players to take a risk on the Michigan program and try to get us back to respectability at the very least.
