North Campus just got even ****tier
As if living on North Campus isn't bad enough (I can say that because I spent my freshman year there), an OTR tipster has informed us that things are about to get even worse.
The tipster had an altercation with a UofM bus driver last night on his way back to North Campus.  During the altercation the driver revealed that next year DPS will be riding along on the late night buses and handing out MIPs in an attempt to eliminate the apparently large number of drunk kids who have been throwing up during their trip back home.
I have been on board the last call bus many a time and feel it is part of the tradition that goes with living on North Campus. The ability to withstand getting puked on, let alone just trying to breathe while being crammed like a sardine next to a group of sweaty future frat guys, is a right of passage. If you survive the trip you know you can handle just about any drunk situation that comes your way over the next four years.
It's unfair that kids on North Campus will now have to pay for a cab ride to avoid the police.  Very few people ASK to live that far from civilization. Some cheap freshman is going to attempt to walk back one night and is either A) going to get really, really lost-or B) is going to pass out in the woods. DPS's job is to help ensure students' safety. This proposed plan will just promote more reckless behavior as students attempt to find ways around the new system.
