I really don’t like making personal attacks when it comes to writing for OTR but I can’t say nothing when my colleague and I get improperly called out. The call-out received from the Michigan Review was actually two weeks ago, but news travels slowly when no one gives a sh*t. For the sake of her anonymity and the fact that her name appears at the top of the linked article, we will refer to the author of the story as Krittani Bagan. So Krittani, if I may dissect a few of your statements.
“The fact of the matter is that every student has an opinion (most likely passionate) about the Greek system at U-M. The only thing that makes Tassi's and Ahor's opinion different is that they have a large medium (through OTR) to express their views to the thousands of students on campus.”
This is a blog. You can do it, anyone can do it. No one went around Michigan Campus putting up advertisements for college OTR. When Paul and I started writing two summers ago we would have maybe 30 viewers per post, probably just people we told about the site. Word trickled along and we created our own medium, so don’t talk about how it’s unfair that our opinions have a medium “through OTR”. OTR’s Michigan site has medium through us (though mostly Paul, I won’t contest that). If people wanted to read your opinions they would and you’d have your medium. Don’t blame us because people like to hear what we have to say.
“After Bid Day, another writer known as "AHor," who is allegedly in Alpha Epsilon Pi, created a list ranking all of the 2008 sorority pledge classes. Of course, the ranking was based upon votes, leaving little to say about accuracy or fairness.”
Firstly, it’s cute that you have to “allege” that I’m in AEPi, it’s not that hard to figure out if you chose to do the slightest bit of research (i.e asking one of your next door neighbors) before printing the article. Secondly, no, I did not create a list for the top sorority pledge classes; it was frats and sororities as wholes. And thirdly, through your article you talk about how there is no ranking and it’s about finding the right fit. What is it exactly that you have to say about the “accuracy and fairness” of my OTR Readers’ list? If you think it’s inaccurate then obviously you have an opinion as to who should be ranked where, despite claiming it’s only about “fit”. Contradict much?
“It is time to know more of the truth about Greek life from someone who knows - not someone who party-hopped at fraternities because he probably wished he were in one. We can only hope that OTR will fade into irrelevance until next fall when rankings begin again and Tassi once again shows all of us how envious he is of Greeks.”
What’s more unbiased than someone from the outside looking in? Are you implying that you are the “someone who knows”? If the things Paul wrote about each fraternity and sorority didn’t have truth to them then no one would read it or be interested in the first place. I’m also pretty sure that I can speak for Paul when I say he doesn’t and never wanted to be a Greek and certainly isn’t envious. If he was a Greek he probably couldn’t have the status now where he is well known by a majority of them. The last one is for you readers out there:
“the only thing OTR captures is bored students who spend their library breaks insulting people through anonymous posts.”

Oh, and Krittani, I just increased your article's views ten fold, feel free to thank me later.
