Wonder why so many girls are dying for the Sex and the City movie to come out in theatres? You might think it’s because women can so relate to the issues that Carrie, Samantha, Miranda, and Charlotte face in each of the episodes. Not only do they bring up insightful topics (like sex!), but they illustrate how women are sick and tired of the old-fashion idea women are inferior to men.

Wake up call!

The appeal of Sex and the City, Cashmere Mafia and Lipstick Jungle has nothing to do with female empowerment and everything to do with the dream of success. One word can sum up the female characters on these shows:
Dayammm! 

Not only are these women ultra glamorous, they’re good at what they do and (most importantly) acknowledged for it.

We might be in the 21st century, but women everywhere still struggle for recognition of their hard work and accomplishments. If a woman is successful and dominant because she knows what she wants, she is an open target for being a “u know what.” But if a man were to be like that, he will get praised for his accomplishments and is “The Man.”

Please spare me the bullshit and get it straight: 
Shows like Sex and the City have not erased that unrelenting double standard.
