Sloppy Seconds (AKA Winter Rush Bids) Go Out Tomorrow
If only all winter rushes turned out this cool...

Sorry to step into the Greek zone that typically belongs to JQ, but a very not-so-important event takes place tomorrow, winter rush bids. Other than AGD stapling posters reeking of desperation around campus, there are no sororities participating in winter rush (to my knowledge). As for the fraternities, winter rush provides the batch of nice guys who are chosen based on how unlikely they are to get in the way of things. So long as you know something about sports (or fashion if you’re rushing Pike) and aren’t figured to be a cock-block, you’ll get a winter bid.

The next time you make your way to a Top-5 frat party and notice an awkward guy standing up against a bar talking to two or three other awkward looking guys and wonder how they got into the fraternity, winter rush is indeed your answer. There are less than a dozen or so guys in the whole rush process who would have made it into his house had he rushed there in the fall. The only glimmer of hope for the winter rushes is that come next fall, the freshman girls don’t really know the difference.

AHor is a gdi piece of shit. A house's selectivity does not change between the rush seasons. Equally cool kids go through rush in the winter; they probably had legitimate reasons for not doing it in the fall. Likewise, some VERY cute girls rush as sophomores for the same reason. Let JQ do the greek analysis...at least he's funny. Posted 01/29/2008 4:14 PMReply

Winter rush relies a lot on using contacts from the fall pledge class to bring in solid guys that they know. So if you have a good fall class, it can create a good winter class. It depends if the recruitment chair knows what he's doing. Posted 01/29/2008 5:05 PMReply

doesn't matter how many you get accepted, matters if they're decent guys. Posted 02/04/2008 10:13 PMReply
