Steps to Becoming Paranoid: Read the UCPD Crime Alerts
Coming to a deserted sidewalk, near you!

The campus manhunt last night prompted many to head over to the University of California Police Department's webpage to check out the details.  Was the incident an isolated event?  Does the popo always get the criminal, or was last nights' success story a fluke?  How many terrorizing twelve-year-olds with BB guns are there in Berkeley, really?

It seems that the incident was isolated, but the popo never gets the perpetrator, and there are way too many delinquents in diapers out here.  Basically?  Berkeley badguys are getting hyphy and there's not much hope for those that get their laptops/cell phones/unmarred faces jacked.

Out of the 66 cases reported since January, only 15 of the incidents resulted in the arrest of the criminals.  What's more, crime rates are rising, with six robberies (four armed, two strong arms) occurring just in the past three days.

Where to avoid? Small walkways on campus from 5:00 pm onward, People's Park after dark, and (I wish I were kidding) eateries and shops while chilling with your crew.

And most importantly, don't walk alone after dark (that includes you, frat boy who thinks that benchpressing two hundred automatically keeps you safe from a marauding band of five thugs). Stay safe!
