To the surprise of no one, Tim Tebow announced on Sunday that he will be staying at UF for his senior year. The Heisman winning quarterback was at UF's national championship celebration in the Swamp when he announced his plans to stay.
The fans spent a good part of the rally chanting "One more year" and finally at the end of the celebration as he was walking off the stage, he came back and said "Oh, yeah, one more thing. let's do it again. I'm coming back" to thunderous cheering from the packed stadium.
He says, "Overall, I just felt loyal to this place. I feel like I'm a role model, and a lot of times people start things and don't finish them. I didn't want to be like that. I wanted to be loyal to the university. I wanted to finish what I started and play another year."
There is no word yet on whether juniors Brandon Spikes or Percy Harvin are going to be following his lead and staying for another year or if they'll opt for the NFL draft.
But for now, Tebow's announcement has given Gator fans yet another reason to celebrate. We're all looking forward to another spectacular football season.
