This Is What Happens When I Take A Week Off

I might be wrong, but it seems like last week was the most news-worthy week in like a bazillion years. Every time I opened my e-mail I saw something that I wanted to blog about, but since I was taking a self-imposed week long hiatus I couldn't. Plus the only computer available to me wass run on vacuum tubes and a hamster on a wheel, so I didn't really have the opportunity. Anyway, here are the stories you missed while you were off getting drunk, sunburned and drunk.

  • Last Sunday, Pat Riley (yes, that Pat Riley) was seen in the stands of the PSU-Indiana game at the BJC. Since you missed it, it was a pretty exciting game with Penn State pulling off the overtime win. But what was Riley doing in the stands? Probably checking out Indiana's Eric Gordon who is a potential lottery pick this year. Clearly he wasn't there to watch any Penn State players.
  • Remember hearing the news that PHEAA wouldn't be lending you money anymore? 40,800 students without loans - oh noes!!1! Well, have no fear because an organization with tons of money has stepped up to fill the void - Penn State. So, you'll be borrowing money from Penn State and then giving them the money right back as tuition. Am I the only one that sees a problem there?
  • Last week we also got work that Robert Corrado, a Penn State junior, won PRWeek's 2008 Student of the Year. Actually, two Penn State students made it into the top five finalists for the award with Julia Tumas being the other. So suck on that colleges around the country, our students can create better propaganda than yours. But seriously Rob, that's the picture you went with? Ooofa.
  • In other Penn State contestant news, Penn State senior Aaron Fleishman won $10,000 from ideablob.com for business idea. It's something about helping children in third world countries, blah blah blah. Look, with this whole PHEAA thing going down I need some cash, Aaron how about helping a brother out?

More things happened last week, but they're too big to put in this post. They definitely deserve their own space, like: Terrelle Pryor was at Penn State (and plans on making a decision this week), Beaver Stadium will soon be the largest in the country and Jim Cramer's coming. Well, I guess I did include them, ooops.
