So even though U of M Dearborn is like our ugly little stepbrother, I still feel obligated to report news from there occasionally. Everyone is up in arms that the University is funding the $25,000 installation of Muslim footbaths in the bathrooms at the school. Muslims have to wash their feet before prayer and trying to do it in the sinks was making many Muslims have to take up yoga. People are mad because of something about separation of church and state and a public university funding religious activities.

The University countered with it's usual, "oh well, ANYone can take advantage of this" defense that has served them well so far. The other side is pissed off that the ACLU didn't have a problem with this, but anything having to do with a certain bearded Son of God gets tossed out the window immediately.

Personally, I don't think we're looking at the upside of this. $25,000 for footbaths? I didn't even know Michigan undertook projects that cost under 20 million dollars. Although to be fair, for $25,000 you could probably tear down Mary Markley Hall and build a dorm twice as good.
