Virginia Tech College Republicans Rejoice That Not EVERYONE Loves Obama

College Republicans in Virginia couldn’t be happier. Students at Virginia Tech are actually interested in the election and not just in support of Barack Obama. Shocking.

In fact, Virginia could cross party lines in favor of the Republicans for the first time since 1964. That’s how close the polls are in Virginia. And the youth vote will most certainly have an impact.

Carlin Crowder, the Virginia Tech College Republicans Chair, says that this year he’s noticed more involvement in the College Republicans than ever before. He claims that in particular more women are joining, and he attributes this to Palin on the ticket. Please, please tell me Virginia women are not stupid enough to think any old woman (or hot young babe in this case) is good enough to lead our country or that Crowder actually believes this.

Carlin talks to The Collegiate Times about the differences in this election:

Crowder characterized the new interest among students as not automatically benefitting the traditional Democratic voting block associated with high youth vote turnout.

"We're seeing a real turnaround; we're not seeing mind-numb college students that are just going to vote one way because that's how they've been influenced by their peers," Crowder said.

Crowder said he felt confident the College Republicans could turn this opportunity into a Republican victory this November.

Interesting that Crowder doesn't believe students should be influenced by their peers... while he himself tries to influence his peers. And while we're on the topic, "mind-numb"? Sounds like a Palin-ism in the making.
