Virginia Tech 'Victim,' Nathan Jones, Gets Fired ... And Sells Costumes On Ebay
Update [5pm 12/12/07 ]: Shirts have been removed from ebay

Last night we received an e-mail from Nathan Jones, media whore and one of the two Penn State students who dressed as Virginia Tech shooting "victims." In the e-mail, which apparently was sent to a number of other people, Jones explains that he was fired from his job on Thursday saying, "Bank of America has taken it upon itself to be the regulator of free speech by firing me yesterday. ... I was asked to resign or be fired; 'in lieu of dismissal' is actually how they put it." So, for those of you who were looking for some punishment, looks like you got it. Although, we smell lawsuit on this one.

Jones points out that he never mentioned his employer during any of his interviews and points out the irony that many people thought this might hurt his future job prospects (not thinking of current jobs, huh?). And if you're expecting an apology from him after this, don't hold your breath. He's sinking with the ship.

"Things are going to be hard now, especially since I have no outside support." Jones writes. "My mother is dead and my father hasn't spoken to me in years. However, even though I will be starving over the holidays and my credit cards will all default, I still will not apologize."

So, how do you pay bills when you've been fired from your job and basically the entire world hates you? Well, you sell the costumes that got you in trouble on ebay of course. Jones is selling the shirt worn by Jessica Maroclo and what looks like maybe the Virginia Tech  shirt he wore to the party, on ebay for $50 each.

A description of the man's shirt reads in part, " I need money to make it through the holiday season, I have no financial support outside of myself. As an extra, the winner of this bid will receive one of the original photographs shown all over the media, and I'll write whatever you want me to say on it. Happy bidding!!"

Wow, he's definitely going to hell. Anyway, if you want to take a look at the shirts (and bid on them you sicko) the links are here and here. But we suggest hurrying, it's doubtful that ebay will keep them up very long.

Yeah. Nathan went and found my YouTube video where I talk about how angry this whole thing made me. He gave it a bad rating and proceeded to link me to his eBay auctions. Thanks, Nathan, you're so helpful. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mDNrgIqSL_M Posted 12/15/2007 7:06 PMReply

Why would the writer of this article provide links to where some "sicko" (as you put it),can buy the shirts? You're endorsing him by doing that. Idiots! Posted 12/15/2007 7:35 PMReply

@ Anonymous: How is that endorsing him. It's showing he's a jackass. Jackass! Posted 12/15/2007 7:45 PMReply

I agree with you, ha-mace. At the same time, it's perpetuating his favorite thing in the world "shock value"... since he's so popular in State College and all... I really doubt someone will bid $50 for a shirt that they cannot wear or show in public... so this guy who has no money will now lose even more due to eBay posting fees :-)

P.S. I'm the 7:06 anonymous above.

Use the link to report the item to eBay. There's a link at the bottom that says "report this item." I think this falls under Banned items... Items produced by or linked to disastrous or tragic events.

This guy's amazing. I hope he doesn't reproduce.

Nathan Jones suffers from the problem of not knowing when to keep his opinions to himself. With his overblown, overwrought ego, he is going to be a liability for any company (with a good reputation) to hire. He'd talk back to his boss in an instant and certainly wouldn't think twice before speaking to the media about his company. I think he is going to have a hard road ahead. I reported both shirt sales to E-Bay and they were removed within 16 hours. I guess Nathan Jones will just have to shut his mouth and become a working stiff in the corporate culture like the rest of us. Posted 12/16/2007 2:00 PMReply

A lawsuit? Someone doesn't know much about how this sort of thing works. Bank of America has thousands of employees, of which many are probably Jewish, Gay, associated with Virginia Tech somehow, or any other group this kid has offended. In this politically correct world it would only take one former co-worker to make a statement saying Jones had said something offensive at one point. Plus, it'd be career suicide to take this case. Even scumbag laywers wouldn't want to touch this one. Posted 12/18/2007 05:40 AMReply

I feel for this kid. It's a college prank that may have been in bad taste, but you can't tell me that no one else has done something in bad taste. I'm sure he had no mal intent and at the time didn't think it would cause a 'national crisis'.

Now why would he go to CNN? That's a stupid question. He's looking for support anywhere he can get it.

With regards to Bailie's comment about Facebook and Myspace. It's entirely possible he didn't think the pictures would be publicized the way they were. Anyone can post pictures of you without your consent.

In short this is ridiculous and people need to grow thicker skin.

If you check his myspace:

He wants to find a cure for cancer and aids while at the same time creating a vaccine to make people infertile in order stop over population.

I'm not a scientist like Dr. Jones, but I wouldn't hire this guy to take out the garbage let alone work in a lab.

His myspace profile is full of fancy terms explaing theology that by definition contracts itself.

He's like a little kid nerd bully that thinks his is mentally superior to others because he uses big words and knows who Darwin is.

If he believes in survival of the fittest and mental intellect, his large cranium should have figured out years ago that in this day and age, allowing someone to publicly post pictures of you doing something found offensive to a majority of people will probably make it hard to get or keep a job.

No wonder this kid is 28 years old doesn't have a job or a degree.

It's not that he reads Darwin. It's that he's hoping for honorable mention in the yearly list published in the Darwin Awards.

As to reproducing, I don't think it's going to happen. Even Jessica Maroclo won't go near him. And, since he doesn't like the female purrrsuasion. ...

meow.
