Friday night's Insert Theme Here party on Benvenue was--in the humble opinion of this writer--a resounding success. A review, in a slightly different format than usual (the party deserves it, it was epic):
The Good
Crowd: Enough people for ample mingling opportunities and two beer pong tables to run continuously, but not so crowded you couldn't tell whose hand was touching your ass. And an excellent guy to girl ratio.
Booze: Not the biggest selection--Smirnoff, Captain Morgan, and Coors Light--but definitely available in abundance. They almost ran out of beer a couple hours into the party, but crisis was averted when a Knight in Shining Armor made a beer run.
Snacks: Call me a fatty all you want, but when I'm drunk, I want to eat. This party satiated that craving, and then some. Chips, salsa, dip, and several varieties of candy were all availabe. Well done on that front.
But, Most Importantly: It lasted until after 2am, quite an accomplishment for a house party of that magnitude, and by the time the cops came by on their rounds, the party was dying down naturally anyway. Props to the drunken chick who sweet-talked the cops.
The Bad:
Music: Or, rather, lack thereof. It was pretty quiet when it was on, and pretty much non-existent after 12:30am or so. The subsequent lack of a dance floor wasn't much of a loss, though; the chill house party feel facilitated socializing, not grinding.
The Ugly:
The guy who did the half yard--yes, 30 ounces of beer, after he was already wasted--despite repeated warnings that he would throw up. Which he did. But the rest of the party managed to be hurl-free.
