Who’s Ann Arbor Rooting for in Da Super Bowl?
I'm secure with my masculinity...

For the masses of Michigan students who don’t hail from New York, the Patriots are the obvious choice for fan favorite. They have the greatest Michigan Alum ever, Tom Brady, who has women and men alike drooling over him. The Patriots are also on the brink of being labeled the greatest team of all time. If that doesn’t make them the easy choice, the alternative of identifying with Giants fans is enough to put you over the top. Even the Giants players hate Giants fans, how else can you explain their ten game winning streak when they’re away from their fans.

However, there are a variety of reasons why the Giants are worthy to root for as well. First of all, they pose the greatest spoiler threat of all time. No team has ever been 19-0 and if the G-men win they will forever be remembered as the team the Patriots choked against in the Super Bowl (it beats being remembered as the team they beat to complete the perfect season). Alright, so reason number two to cheer on the Giants; Amani Toomer. Unlike Tom Brady, he actually played well when he was at Michigan. He is to date the 3rd all-time leading receiver in Wolverine history. It’s also fun to bring out the Austrian accent every time he makes a catch and yell “It’s not a Tumor!”

The third and most important reason to root for the Giants is a man by the name of Eli Manning. For all of you out there who have felt overlooked or underappreciated because of an overachieving older sibling, root for Eli. His whole career he’s been hit with criticism of how he’ll never be as good as brother Peyton. Yet, Eli has made the Super Bowl in his 4th season, whereas it took Peyton seven to make it to the big show.

No matter what team you choose to root for, get out there, drink some beer and have a good time. Commercial evaluations to come out tomorrow!
