A One Hit Wonder Holiday: Rick Astley at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

If you've been wondering what a certain Mr. Rick Astley has been up to for the past twenty years, look no further than the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Named the "Best Act Ever" at the MTV Europe Music Awards, Astley first caught the world's attention with his 1988 hit "Never Gonna Give You Up." As you can see from this video, he clearly was referring to the spotlight, not some lucky lady.

His desperation is fairly palpable in the clip above, as he appears in the parade on a float inhabited by abandoned Cartoon Network puppets. Yes indeed, Astley does sing atop the float where unwanted puppets are tossed away, which is called Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends. Evidently, it also fosters imaginary careers.
