Tennessee Disappoints Again: Fares Poorly In Poverty
Pun only slightly intended.

Living in Tennessee is comparable to staying in a relationship with that good-for-nothing boyfriend. You know in your heart you're not getting anything out of it, but he tells you he loves you, so you stay.

According to the US Census Bureau, 15.2% of Tennesseans are currently living in poverty, making it the eighth poorest state in the country. The USCB defines poverty as an annual household income of $10,294 (for one)---about the price of the average Vanderbilt student's handbag collection.

Jokes aside, this is genuinely depressing. As much as Vanderbilt tries to relate to the community around it with volunteer work, food and clothing drives, and other good deeds, if the cost of your shoes surpasses that of someone's rent---they ain't gonna be your friend.
