UM Alum Suspended for Verbally Trashing Notre Dame… and Jesus

We’ve all taken our shots at Notre Dame. “Rudy was Off-Sides” and “**** the Irish” are commonly seen on T-shirts or heard in chants from time to time. Yet when Michigan Alum and ESPN2 First Take’s co-host Dana Jacobson got on stage for a Mike and Mike in the Morning roast, she took it a step too far. Mike Greenberg and Mike Golic host a show on ESPN Radio, one’s a short dorky Jewish guy and the other is an Ex-NFL lineman who went to Notre Dame, but sports can bind all peoples. Unfortunately for Jacobson, Belvedere Vodka was the social lubricant that caused the bind to unravel. She drunkenly berated Mike Golic for his alma mater and reportedly said “**** Notre Dame”, “**** Touchdown Jesus”, and yes, “**** Jesus”. She was then booed off the stage with both Mikes face’s hidden in their hands, Golic thinking “wow, that’s embarrassing for her”, and Greenberg thinking “Don’t they hate us enough already?”

Jacobson, who is Jewish and from Bloomfield Hills, MI, is presently serving a one week suspension from ESPN. However, the Catholic League may push for a harsher penalty. It’s fascinating to see the minority make a derogatory comment toward the majority and see how it’s handled. Had Charlie Weiss gotten on stage and said “**** the Torah, **** Moses, and **** Israel”, odds are the anti-defamation league would instantly start picketing outside the McDonald’s he goes to.
