Sometimes being in a college relationship may feel a bit like being a ping pong ball, a yo-yo, or anything else which goes back and forth a lot. They say “breaking up is hard to do.” Obviously, they aren’t talking about those of us prone to mercurial relationships. Luckily, we always have some good old-fashioned celebrity role models when it comes to that sort of thing, as you can see by checking out the Top 8 On-Again Off-Again Celebrity Couples.
1) A few weeks ago it was rumored that Head Bunny (no pun intended) Holly Madison had left Hugh Hefner for emo magician Criss Angel. The allegations were denied, but today the internet gossips (like us) are reporting that Holly said, “Hef and I aren’t together anymore.” Though some are ready to say "bye bye bunny," Madison's MySpace reports that she is in a relationship.
2) Waif/goddess Kate Moss and her corpse-like addict ex, Pete Doherty, had the media in a frenzy every time they broke up and got back together. Finally the two called it quits during the summer of 2007 when Doherty had filandered one too many times.
3) Shagging the nanny is such a cliché, but then again, so is a beautiful actor dating a beautiful actress after meeting on set. Jude Law began dating Sienna Miller while filming Alfie, and the twosome seemed happy— until the homely nanny (who even remembers her name anymore?) admitted that they had an affair. The pretty ones split, then reconciled, then split again.
4) This past weekend, NYU comedienne-alum Sarah Silverman and UNLV comedian-alum Jimmy Kimmel attended the wedding (who’d of thought?) of Howard Stern. Though the two broke off their relationship in July, it appears the two comedians may have decided to laugh off the marital woes.
5) There’s nothing quite so detrimental to a relationship as a reality television show focused on a couple, which may explain why newlyweds Travis Barker and Shanna Moakler split in August 2006 after their foray on MTV’s Meet the Barkers. In March 2007 it was reported that the two reconciled, but the couple has since ended their relationships.
6) After getting cozy for the cameras in the 2004 film The Notebook, Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams began getting cozy in real life too. When they broke up in 2007, Gosling said, “We both went down swingin’ and we called it a draw.” Recently, however, it has been reported by US Weekly that the two are a couple again, though perhaps not a swingin’ couple.
7) Pam and Tommy Lee have been through it all: breaking up, getting back together, infecting each other with Hepatitis C, and having children. This year, TMZ reported that the couple were seen canoodling at a baseball game after breaking up “more times than anyone cares to count.”
8) Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt first got together on The Hills, beack when Heidi was still attending FIDM. They broke up but reunited soon after, probably when the two realized they needed each other to have any semblance of D-List stardom.
