Carpe Crustum (Seize the Pastry)
One of Franklin St.'s 25 million empty storefronts will soon be occupied! A sweet shop called Sugarland has laid claims to Julian's old location, next to Schoolkids Records.

The owner, Katrina Ryan, is the pastry chef at La Residence and is running for election to the Carrboro Board of Alderman. While not yet a functional store, Sugarland currently operates as an advertising agent for Ryan's election campaign, as seen in the photo.

The banner on the front window claims that Sugarland will be opening in October. Well, today is the last day of October, and the inside of the store remains miserably empty. Looks like Chapel Hill will have to wait a bit longer for delicious pastries.
