Last night (Saturday, July 26th), The Rosebuds and She & Him pumped up and soothed the crowd at New York City's Terminal 5, respectively.

The show actually opened with a performance by Freakwater, however I can only handle a certain level of country in a performance, and therefore I do not think it is fair for me to pass judgment on them.

Luckily, Freakwater was followed by The Rosebuds, reminding me why I went out last night in the first place.  With their dance-rock sound, the Raleigh-based band had the whole crowd moving--a feat for a little-known opening act.  For those who have never heard The Rosebuds, their Killers-esque sound is worth a listen.

Next, She & Him took the stage, proving that Zooey Deschanel's voice and her and M. Ward's harmonies sound just as good live as on recordings.  The set included nearly every song off She & Him's self-titled debut along with a new song, a song written and sung by back-up singer Becky Stark, and a series of covers including a Joni Mitchell song.

Hopefully you have tickets to She & Him's sold out show Monday, July 28th at Cat's Cradle.  If not, tickets are still on sale for their July 31st show at the Orange Peel in Asheville.
