A New York Times article has highlighted the growing popularity of downloading completly gratis textbooks instead of shelling out upwards of $250 for a brand new copy. It's no revelation that students are getting completely ripped off as textbook prices have become increasingly expensive so I'm TOTAL a fan of stealing downloading free copies. Honestly, who wants to put more money into their professors pockets (Ahem, Jay Pasachoff) ? Tuition is already hovering at around 50,000 dollars and that doesn't include buying books every semester. Hopefully this is a trend that will catch on within the next couple of years as students could easily be saving themselves a cool $1,000 a semester.
