Despite (or perhaps because of) all the controversies recently surrounding the NC Governor's School, the Raleigh News and Observer is calling for all former GS-ers to submit their memories of the six-week geek camp.

If you're like me, you were pretty excited just to get nominated to spend a summer away from your parents' house on a college campus full of other smart (and sometimes hot) kids.  If you actually got in and went, you were shocked by a variety of things (mostly how many people tried to or actually succeeded in "experimenting") and enthused about all the rest (Hong Kong action movies, anyone?).

The best part of Governor's School?  Having an instant set of friends when you came to college, since approximately 97%* of GSE alums choose to go to UNC, State or Dook after high school.
